And everyone I talk to seems to have learned the bonds business the same way. Are there any classes or continuing education courses that deal with bonds especially underwriting, handling claims and collateral that anyone knows about?
Surety bonds in my experience has been the same. On the job-
You can read all day long on how a bond actually works, but - getting the job done really takes rolling up the sleves. Not that this is something you didn't know already!

Hi Nancy, I'm Mike...
In my experience everyone learns on the job as well. I do not know of any courses, but our website has an abundance of information on suretyship.
We also have a Surety Bond Blog on this server, where our agents write articles about the industry.
Also don't forget you can always ask any question you may have in these forums, we encourage questions. All we ask is that you post your question in the appropriate forum; usually someone will answer it the same business day.
So welcome to the forums and feel free to post away Nancy!![]()

Apply for Surety Bonds
The NASBP (National Association of Surety Bond Producers) has excellent courses availble at their surety school. These courses take place a couple of times a year in Houston.
