    Business Name Change

    I have a bond for my mortgage company and I want to change from a sole proprietorship to a Corporation for tax reasons. What are the steps to to get the name changed for the business on my bond? Do I have to re-apply for a new bond or can we just change the name?

    Some bonding companies will require a new bond and a new agreement, others will only require a new agreement. Your best bet is to call the agent that originally wrote the bond and see what the surety that backs your bond requires.
