    Contractor

I was recently asked by a potential client if I was bonded. I'm insured and licensed, but not bonded. I looked into it and the state does not require contractors to be bonded. Is it worthwile to obtain a bond if not required, if only for customer reassurance? What is the purpose of this?

If the state does not require a bond of you, then there is no bond to obtain. A bond is a three party agreement and can not be accomplished without the third party (the government in this case) requiring it of you.
