Are attorneys and banks required to be bonded?

Can anyone tell me if Attorneys and Banks in the USA are required to have surety bonds?
Do the requirements vary from state to state?

    Thank You!

I have never heard of either being required to post a bond to operate.

Bond requirements vary depending on who is requiring it. Therefore, they can vary state to state, or even state department to state department within the same state.

Thanks for the help with this. I'll do more looking because from my investigation, there seems to be some conflicting info.
    Much appreciated!
