Default Bond Forms

Hello,
I was told that I have to obtain a blank copy of the bond form that is required by the state. How does each bond form differ? Are all of the states really that picky as far as what bond form you issue the bond on?

Each obligee will have their own specific bond form. In this case, the state government has a bond form that will list state statutes that only apply to that particular state. If you were to use Connecticut's bond form for a New Jersey bond request, it would be denied, as it is not guaranteeing what they are asking for.

You can perform a search on the Surety & Fidelity Association of America website. If you go to Search use the drop down menu to specify 'contract' bond then 'perforamnce bond' and type in which state you are interested in in the 'Form Authored By' field it will give you that states standard text.

Great link, just be sure that the bond form database has the most up to date version of your bond. They do no claim to have the most up to date and recommend you double check.
