I am considering a city clerk position, and the previous clerk was bonded for $10,000. So im pretty sure I will need to be bonded as well. Unfortunately I do not have good credit, had to file bankruptcy 3 years ago, and dont know much about those type of bonds. Will I be able to get bonded, and what is the best way to go about getting bonded if I am required to do so? Is there anyway I can find out with 100% certainty, because I dont want to tell my boss Im leaving for another job, then cant get bonded and be stuck with NO job.
There are programs available that will bond individuals with bankruptcies. However, it would be a good idea to apply for the bond prior to leaving your current job to ensure that the particular bond you require is written under the program.
Good luck!
How long does that process usually take?? Im sorry to be so unknowledgeable about this stuff. Its also crunch time for me to find out anything I can. I dont have a lot of time to decide.
Typically about 1 business day for the high risk programs. Be sure to apply using the link I provided above and complete all required steps. You can contact your assigned agent should you have any questions (name and contact info for agent will be email upon completion of online application).
not sure if you can answer this or not, but what is the typical cost of this type of bond for someone in my predictment?
Unfortunately, I can not answer that on the forums, as rates change and we do not want to mislead those who may be reading this conversation a year from now.
If you apply using the link above you should be given a quote, or at least a range. It will only take about 5-10 minutes.
Let me know if you have any further questions![]()
