Default Claim affect credit?

What if a claim is placed on my surety bond? In what ways will that negatively affect me or my personal credit?

Difficult question to answer. It depends upon whether Surety pays out a claim and then if they can recoup damages from you. If they can't, then it will most definitely affect your personal credit. Best option here is to do whatever you can to avoid having claims filed against your bond.
