Default Dog Walking Business

I am starting a dog walking business and prospective clients have asked if I'm bonded. My city doesn't require any bond so what kind are the clients talking about?

Often people want services they hire to be "bonded". However, you can't just be bonded, as they are three party agreements and must be required by a third party in order for you to obtain one. If there is no government department requiring the bond of you, simply tell your clients, the government does not have a bond requirement for your service.

You can obtain insurance if that would ease their nerves, but you can not obtain a bond when there is no requirement by the government.

Default Dog Walker's Honesty

Where I run my business as a dog walker I am in and out of people's homes. Can I obtain a Fidelity/Employee Dishonesty Bond? I act as a subcontractor to my clients.

Yes, you will be able to obtain a Fidelity Bond.
The fidelity bond would cover a person or a position for the benefit of the employer or the public entity for whom you provide services (this includes handling funds or any other goods) belonging to the employer. The policy would reimburse the employeer in the event of a loss.
