What is the difference between a BMC-84 and BMC-85?

Both of them are forms to complete in order to become a freight broker. The ICC requires one of the two to be filed.


The BMC-84 is the form for filing the $10,000 surety bond. You can apply for the bond if the owner(s) have good personal credit and can produce business financials. You can apply at: ICC Bond Application

The BMC-85 is the form for filing your license using a trust fund account. This is a good option for new businesses or if the owner(s) have flawed credit.
