    Claim Filed

A claim was filed against my bond for unpaid freight charges that I in fact paid. I believe I have all the proper documentation needed to prove it. Is there any way to dispute the claim? And will my bond be cancelled while the claim is being investigated?

Sorry to hear about the wrongful claim against your bond. I would contact the agent who wrote the bond for you, as he/she is your go-between for communication with the surety (Unless the surety has already contacted you directly about the claim, in which case you should speak to them directly.)

Many sureties will cancel the bond immediately upon hearing about a claim to ensure no further damage. However, this does not mean they will not reinstate it if they find the claim is not valid. Some bonding companies will do some research prior to cancellation to avoid such situations. As stated above, it is really best to be in contact with your agent or the surety directly when a claim is involved.

    Good luck!
