Default Collateral

If I put up collateral to get the bond, how long will the surety hold on to my collateral?

It completely depends on the Surety Company that is approving and writing the bond for you. Typically it is a one year term but can be up to six.

Our one market that will accept collateral will hold it for a minimum of one year AFTER the bond has been cancelled. This is to assure Surety protection in the event of future claims after bond cancellation.
