How can I confirm that a certain freight broker is bonded?
I believe that you can just go on to FMCSA's website to see if a certain freight broker is bonded.Originally Posted by Mother Bond

Bond Magician is correct - All you need to know is the brokers MC# (Motor Carrier number) - you enter that on FMCSA's website and it will tell you whether or not they have a bond and whether or not it's active.Originally Posted by Bond Magician

I would make sure you get their MC # prior to a look up on FMCSA's website. It's a guarantee that you'll be looking at the right company. It's MUCH easier to find them with the MC#.Originally Posted by Mother Bond

I have a BMC 84 bond. I see on the FMCSA website where my bond has been posted by the bonding company. But I never received any proof of bond or contract, showing that I have a bond (to send to clients, etc). I was told this type of bond is filed electronically, that everything is paperless and there is nothing the bonding company (a insurance co.) can give me. The bonding company told me that anyone who wants proof can verify it on the FMCSA website or call them. Is this true?
It absolutely is true. In fact, if the bonding company files the FMCSA bonds electronically, they can be fined by FMCSA if they issue a paper bond as well. FMCSA's website is updated daily to reflect the status of bonds. Your agent can provide you with the confirmation of filing - but not the actual bond. I hope this answers your questions.Originally Posted by LAD

Thanks so much. You've lifted a tremendous load off my shoulders. Glad your forum is available to help "the little people". I had called the FMCSA but like any gov't organization I got few answers. Thanks again! At least now I can sleep better at night![]()
