Why are you asking for a letter?

I recently applied for an employee dishonesty bond. I am being asked to send in a letter explaining what the losses were. Why do I need to submit this?

It sounds like you had a previous claim. If so, the carrier wants to know some background on it prior to backing a new policy for you.
