Claim Help for a Mortgage Broker

I am a mortgage broker and I have just gotten a claim on my bond. I actually wrote a mortgage during a 11 day gap in my license and was called on it. I was completely unaware at the time that my license was expired due to a death in my family. Long story short I wrote a mortgage without a license. I am certainly guilty of this and not arguing this point. I just want to know what to expect in the upcoming months. The amount of the claim is 100K.

I live in the Houston are and I have been receiving suggestions from several people over the course of this past year to start a dog-training/rehabilitation business. It was recommended to me by my father to look into bonds for such a business before starting. Trouble is I haven't the first clue how this works. I would like to know what type of bond I should get, how much it would cost, what type of coverage it provides and what to look out for when pursuing bonding.
