I was convicted of DUI yesterday and the court stipulated that along with my probation of 1 year, and loss of my license that I secure a $50,000 surety bond. Can you help me with this? I am not even sure why they want this bond?

First, you need to find out what the court wants the bond to guarantee. Often times obligees, even courts, do not know why they are requiring a bond, but it just makes them feel more comfortable. If that is truly the case, then you should have your attorney fight the requirement, as no bonding company is going to issue a bond when they do not know what it is guaranteeing.
