Default refund of surety bonds?

I live in Connecticut. I was appointed conservatrix for my father. I had to pay for a surety bond, 2 yrs in a roll. I am no longer conservatrix. Do I get refunded for those bonds? Final accounting was fine and probate judge and all parties involved signed off on it.

Thank you

Jude

Jude,
It depends on the surety company that wrote your bond. Generally, the first year is fully earned, and subsequent years are prorated subject to the applicable minimum which is usually $100.
In any event, it's a good idea to send copies of the closing papers to your company so they can stop future renewals. Just ask them for any applicable refund when you send it.

"Cash bond" is a term used for bail bonds, which are also surety bonds, but not the type that our agency deals with.

The surety bonds we write guarantee business licences, construction, etc.
