Default Appeal Bond for California

I just lost a court case in the state of California. In order to appeal the case the judge wants us to post a $100,000 Bond. Is this something that you can do? If so what would be the cost?
What exactly is the purpose of the bond? My client is innocent and we just need another chance to prove it. Thanks.

Appeal bonds are very hard to get and generally require 100% collateral. The bond is posted to assure you pay the damages if the appeal doesn't go through.
