Default Carry Over

I recently applied for my Contractor's License bond for the state to do work with the company that I am currently with. Just last night an old friend of mine informed me that a job opened up with his company that he thinks I would be perfect for. Will my Contractor License bond carry over if I decide to take the position or will I have to apply for a new bond?

If the bond and your license are only under your name - as an individual, then it is a possibility. Your best bet is to check with the State, they are the ones that ultimately decide.

Another factor that could affect whether your bond could carry over, even if the bond is only under your name, is if the company you are currently with had indemnified for the bond. If that's the case, then the bond may have to be cancelled and replaced.

Either way, always be sure to inform your bond agency regarding any changes. They can help determine exactly what should be done depending on the details of your situation.
