Default Bonded or insured?

I want to hire a contractor to do general labor around by house. Some say they are insured, Some say they are bonded. Does it make a difference? Is bonded better than insured? or doesn't it matter?

From a homeowners standpoint, you want to be sure the contractor is fully insured. Unless the state or municipality that he works in requires it of him, he may not be bonded. You as a homeowner can't require him to have a bond. Make sure that he provides you with proof of his insurance.
