Question Transportation Bond question

hello, I am educating myself about the various bond options for transport providers. It's something I'd like to offer on our marketplace and I can this offering falling into multiple categories: performance, bid and possibly indemnity.
My question is, is there a specific type of bond geared towards transportation service providers, or do they vary based on what's being transported or on whether its interstate, intrastate or international transport?
Thanks in advance for any insights.

The $10,000 ICC Bond is the most common type. However, there are numerous bonds for the field of transportation. The DOT has a $100,000 bond, but I do not know any carriers willing to write it.

Sorry, but that is all I can tell you with how vague the question is (without writing an encyclopedia). Let me know if you have any additional questions and I will be happy to help.

Default Thanks

I see that this is a bond for brokers. Would it also be applicable for companies or owner/operators who own their trucks? Our most common types of shipments are for households, vehicles, boats and general goods (such as furniture). That said, freight is a fast-growing segment for us. Would an ICC bond cover all of these segments?
I appreciate your insights.

Sorry, but I do not know the freight industry well enough to answer that with confidence. Your best bet is to contact the ICC to find out.
