I am starting up a handyman business, just myself right now, taking on small, odd jobs. I see, from reading ads, that other handymen advertise they are licensed and bonded. Please explain what kind of bond I will need and where I can do this.

The license you would apply for with the local government. The bond guarantees per the terms of the license, making it a contractor's license bond.

You can apply online at http://www.jwsuretybonds.com/apply.php
