Default Bid Discrepancies

I am a contractor that has been biding on local Municipality jobs all year only to out bid by the slightest amount again and again. While obtaining the bid results from the last bid I was told that a few of the other contractors I had been out bid by had various discrepancies with thier bonds and at these moments I was eligible to be awarded the job because I was the next closest bider. How do I find out about other contractor's bonds should this happen again?

There could be a number of reasons why lower bidders than you were tossed. They may not have provided all of the necessary forms or maybe they forgot to dot their I's and cross their T's... It can be that silly sometimes.

When a bid opening is open to the public, you sometimes look at other bonds to make sure they are executed properly. That's often how bidders who aren't low will contest results and get awarded the jobs.

Best advise is for you to bid a number that you are comfortable with - making sure that you are not missing anything and are making a profit. Also make absolutely sure that all of the bid requirements are met. If you do this, you should ultimately be awarded jobs. Especially if other bidders miss stuff.
