Bidding with Certified Check

I don't have time to apply for a bid bond so I'm going to bid a job by certified check. Will I be able to get a Performance & Payment bond if I'm awarded the job since I didn't have a bid bond?

Please don't wait until you've been awarded the job to begin the process of getting bonded. Your agent still needs time to make the submission to a bond company for its approval, and you'll need time to gather the information they'll require for that submission. If you'll review the bid specifications, you'll probably see that the owner has specified the time allotted for the successful bidder to provide the performance and payment bonds - usually about ten days, but sometimes as few as five. If you fail to provide the final bonds as required, you're in danger of losing that certified check for failure to execute the contract.
